One in a Million Award recipient: Giving Hearts United

Where they are multiplying good: Los Angeles, California

How they are multiplying good: They are One in A Million. Andrew Lee created Giving Hearts United in early February when the COVID-19 pandemic had just begun. The organization was a way for him to give back to those that needed help the most during the time - healthcare workers and COVID patients. He began making masks with his mom, using materials he bought at fabric stores, but he eventually had companies pitch in and donate materials to help. So far, his organization has donated masks to Windsor Gardens Convalescent Hospital, Olympia Convalescent Hospital, and Mid-Wilshire Healthcare Center. Andrew has spent 85 hours in the past few months creating and distributing over 600 masks in total to these facilities. He plans on branching out his organization and already has different programs in place to give back to those in need. As the name of his organization may imply, he does the work he does in an act of compassion; he hopes to make a tangible difference in his local community and beyond.
