One in a Million Award recipient: Natalie Salvatierra
Where she’s multiplying good: Santa Ana, California
How she’s multiplying good: She is One in a Million. “ My name is Natalie, I am 16 years old, and I am the founder of Solely Sunshine, a non-profit to help those coping with mental health conditions. I recently learned that during this time of COVID-19, people with mental health conditions are struggling significantly more due to increased stress. I want to help them.
Overcoming anxiety is hard, but it can be a little easier with encouraging words (what I like to call sunshine). My goal is to spread sunshine to people in mental health facilities who are struggling now, more than ever. To achieve my goals, I created the website www.solelysunshine.com. The website includes a place for anyone to write virtual letters of encouragement. These virtual letters of encouragement are sent to mental health facilities across the USA. Some other website features include learning about mental health conditions, reading about people’s true stories, and providing suggestions of ways to cope. I feel proud that anyone who writes a letter is spreading sunshine to someone with a mental health condition in need.”
